obtained his PhD at the Astronomical Observatory of the Geneva University, Switzerland, with Prof. Michel Mayor. His astronomical research included studies (1) of stellar populations and the dynamics of globular clusters and of dwarf spheroidal galaxies, (2) of galaxy clusters, and (3) of the dynamics of yound stellar association. He spent one year working at ESO, Chile, during his PhD, and continued his research during two postdoctoral stays, at ESO headquarter in Garching, Germany, and at the Lick Observatory of the University of California in Santa Cruz. He then joined the Integral Science Data Center in 1996 where he gradually specialized into software development for astronomical spacecraft data analysis. He started in the Geneva Gaia team in 2005.
